So, Saturday morning during and after breakfast Emily and I were flipping through Alton Brown's first cookbook (I'm Just Here for the Food).
She decided to pull out a couple recipes to make for dinner that night and the next night, so that afternoon we went shopping and picked up everything we needed.
Saturday night I made shrimp scampi and rice pilaf, two things I've never cooked before ever (shrimp and rice), and Sunday night she made this chicken dish with shallots and garlic and parsley, sage and thyme. Holycrap it was good stuff. Yum-a-dum-dum.
So this kinda started a new tradition. Weekly weekend culinary adventures. I've already got my recipe picked out for this weekend. This is cooking nerd heaven. :)
Also this coming Saturday we're going to see my friend and co-worker Bailey's students put on their rendition of "The Man who Came to Dinner." Should be good times.
That's really all I got for now.
This Friday is, seemingly, the last trip ever to the airport, so that seems a bit monumental. My back and knees are happy with it, anyway.
OK, that's it...
