When Did I Become Thirty?
or "Wait, there are people who were born in 1994?!"
I miss the eighties...

I miss GOOD toys in cereal boxes

I miss the heyday of Prime-Time Game Shows

I miss the cheesy, yet catchy and wonderful songs

I miss the days before Martha Stewart, when all you had to choose from for cooking shows were the hour or two on PBS, "Yan Can Cook," and "The Frugal Gourmet"

I miss the Pink Panther

I miss American Gladiators (really the nineties, but while I'm being nostalgic, who gives a fuck)

I miss the game show block on the USA Network (Also nineties)

I miss Chicken Patty Day in the school cafeteria

I miss the simplicity of the Sega Master System

I miss the thrill of getting a hole-in-one at Miniature Golf

I miss the Go-Karts

I miss the Crocodile Mile

I miss my small blue bowl of air-popped popcorn, and sitting in my little recliner watching "The Cosby Show" on Thursday nights

I miss Raffi and Sharon, Lois & Bram

I miss Dad being "Chef Extraordinaire" because he could cook frozen Chicken Cordon Bleus

I miss not caring WHY I was spending a weekend at my uncle's house, just knowing that it was that time again, and that we'd go Mini Golfing, and Bowling, and see a movie, and wrestle on the living room floor

I miss not knowing who Tom Brokaw is

I miss a "computer" being that V-Tech thing that you stick the cards in the back and do the lessons

I miss Teddy Ruxpin

I miss being able to see Camp as a cool getaway to fish and swim and not a shack with no TV, no hot water, and a slimy-bottomed lake.

I miss getting LOTS of presents at Christmas

I miss Duck Hunt

I miss the inflatable Alphabet people

OK, I guess it's not that I miss the eighties, it's that I miss the innocence of my childhood...I'm deep
